Kingsford captured the MHSAA Division 2 District 33 title Friday afternoon at Al Ness Field in Escanaba, defeating Sault Ste. Marie 9-1 in a semifinal before pulling away from defending district champion Escanaba 7-1 in the final. It was the first district victories and title in program history. Kingsford moves on to a regional semifinal to be played at Cheboygan High School on Wednesday. See Monday’s Daily News for a full recap from the games.
