Florence’s Johnson posts three firsts at WIAA regional

SURING, Wis. — Florence High School senior Kamdan Johnson continued her build-up for her final state finals appearance with two hurdles victories along with contributing to a relay title on Tuesday at the WIAA Division 3 Suring Regional.

Johnson, the reigning back-to-back Division 3 100 hurdles champion, ran a season-best 15.10 in that event to win the regional title. She then ran a personal-best 46.61 in the 300 hurdles to take home her second championship of the day.

Johnson teamed with Marley Jones, Brynn Sullivan and Kelsi Chrisman to win the 1,600-relay regional championship in a time of 4 minutes 24.68 seconds.

The top four finishers in Tuesday’s event qualified for the Sectional 3 finals Friday at Marathon.

For the F-N girls, individual qualifiers included Chrisman (third in the 100 meters in personal best 13.45) and Marley Jones (third in the 400 in 1:05.24).

Two other Florence-Niagara girls relay teams moved on. Lily Steinbrecher, Nia Kinder, Karissa Smith and Tymarian Hannah finished second in the 800 relay and fourth in the 400 relay to advance.

The Florence-Niagara girls placed fourth in the team standings with 77 points. Bonduel captured the team trophy with 153 points.

In the boys event, F-N posted runner-up results from Truth Setner in the 400 meters in a personal best 54.11 seconds and from the team of Zane Phillips, Owen Dunkes, Wyatt Dunkes and Christian Anderson in the 3,200 relay.

Anderson also moved on with a third-place result in the 800 with a personal best 2:04.52.

The F-N boys 800 relay team of Luke Deterville, Dazavian Hannah, Owen Dunkes and Cameron Schiefelbein took third in the 800 relay as did Setner, Wyatt Dunkes, Anderson and Deterville in the 1,600 relay.

Coleman won the boys title with 142 points. Florence-Niagara placed sixth with 59.
