FLORENCE, Wis. — For a second time, Florence High School senior Breyson Kelley has come home with a Wisconsin Wrestling Federation Greco state championship.
In 2021, Kelley won the U14 Greco state championship. Over the next three years he fell just short of winning another one, placing second in 2022 and 2023, then third in 2024.
On May 4 at the WWF Freestyle and Greco State Championships in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., Kelley was given the No. 2 seed in Greco. He earned a first-round bye. From there, he defeated each of his next three opponents in under a minute to get his second WWF Greco state championship.
Kelley went unscored on in all three matches, with the title bout ending in 38 seconds.
He will likely be invited to be part of the Wisconsin All-State Junior Greco team. This year, the Junior National Duals will be held in Milwaukee, Wis., from June 17-21.

Last year, Kelley earned the privilege to again wrestle at the Fargo U.S. Marine Corps National Tournament, the largest in the country. He had qualified two previous times and wrestled in both freestyle and Greco. However, he was unable to win the coveted “stop sign” award and earn All-American status. Focusing only on Greco, he was finally able to reach his goal by placing sixth in the nation and becoming an All-American Junior Greco finisher.
Although he has qualified to again wrestle at the Fargo tournament before entering the college scene, Kelley has decided to instead play in a Wisconsin Football Coaches Association all-star charity game. Unfortunately, both events occur the same week and he decided to put the pads and helmet on one last time as a member of the 8-player North team.
Kelley will suit up Friday, July 18, at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh, Wis., beginning at 6 p.m. This is a fundraiser for Children’s Wisconsin hospital. Kelley was provided complimentary tickets and his family may still have some available for those interested.
Florence’s Logan Koski was also selected for the 8-player North squad in the WFCA all-star game.
