KHS pitching shines in softball sweep against Menominee
KINGSFORD — Kingsford sophomore Mya Brunswick pitched 6 2/3 innings of scoreless softball and senior Reagan Cram did not allow an earned run over her 5 1/3 innings as the Flivvers shut down visiting Menominee in a Great Northern Conference doubleheader Friday.
Brunswick threw all five innings in the opener and surrendered just one hit in Kingsford’s 10-0 victory. She did not issue a free pass and struck out 10.
Brunswick entered the second game in relief and earned a save with her 1 2/3 innings of work as the Flivvers defeated the Maroons 2-1. She did allow a hit or a walk and struck out three.
Cram started in the circle in the finale and pitched 5 1/3 innings without giving up a hit or an earned run. She walked five and stuck out seven.
Offensively in the first game, Kailey Sundquist and Eden Janousek registered two RBIs each, while Adelyn Norman plated a single run.
Brunswick, Sundquist and Anna Bortolini posted two hits each to pace Kingsford’s 10-hit attack.
In the second game, Brunswick snapped a 1-1 tie with a game-winning sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. Jenna Viau put the Flivvers on the board in the second with a run-scoring groundout
Viau, Janousek and Bortolini each recorded a hit while Bortolini stole two bases.
The Flivvers are on the road this week — at Ishpeming today, at Negaunee on Wednesday and at Marquette on Thursday.
