Knights continue conference dominance

EBEN JUNCTION — The Norway Knights continued its dominance over Skyline Central Conference opponents to this point in the 2025 season with a doubleheader sweep of host Superior Central on Monday.

The Knights (13-1, 6-0 in the SCC) battered SC pitching for 28 runs in the two games. Norway scored 10 in the third inning of the opener and went on to post a 12-0 4 1/2-inning victory.

In the second game, the Knights pushed six runs across in the first two innings and finished the day with a 16-4 victory in seven innings.

In the first game, Owen Baij pitched four innings of no-hit ball, striking out nine and issuing one walk.

Landon Amundson, Cole Baij and Elliott Kraemer drove in three runs each to lead the Knight offense. Cameron Varda ripped a triple, while Amundson, Kraemer, AJ Gallino and Landon Ross all belted doubles.

In the finale, Amundson and Owen Baij drove in three runs a piece, while Varda and Ross knocked in two each.

Ross smacked two doubles, Owen Baij, who had four hits in the game, added another and Varda recorded his second triple of the day.

Cole Baij got the start and pitched a spotless two innings for the win. He struck out all six hitters he faced.

“Owen Baij was really good on the mound with the no-hitter and our offense came alive,” Norway coach Tony Adams said. “Great start in game 2 and then we kind of lost our focus for a while.”
