Nordics advance to district semifinal
North Dickinson scored nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and posted a 19-9 win over Bark River-Harris in an MHSAA Division 4 first round District 100 softball game Tuesday.
The Nordics will face Carney-Nadeau on Friday in Bark River. A win would send the Nordics into the district final Friday against the Norway vs. Stephenson winner.
Ella Rossi paced the North Dickinson offense Tuesday with three hits, including a double, and four RBIs. Lauren Jungwirth doubled while Aly Steinbrecher, Ava Oman and Dalaney Steinbrecher contributed singles.
The Nordics drew seven walks and five batters were hit by pitches.
Sharing the mound duties for North Dickinson were Oman, Tatum Cherubini and Janessa Chartier. They allowed four hits and eight walks while striking out five.
Chartier allowed two runs — neither of them earned — over the final three innings as the Nordics rallied from a 7-6 deficit.
