Kingsford captures Yooper 10 baseball title

Kingsford Area Little League earned the Yooper 10 baseball championship in Escanaba, defeating Gladstone 6-0 in Sunday’s championship game.
Kingsford advanced to the title game in the 10U tournament with a 15-11 win over Norway on Friday and an 11-1 victory Saturday over Escanaba.
Jacob Zawada pitched a complete game against Gladstone, scattering eight hits, walking one and striking out four.
Harvey Ellis, Luca Cory, Liam Wodenka, Max Malone and Zawada cracked two hits apiece for the winners. Alec Edwards and Thomas Trulock had one hit each.
Emmett Darling pitched for Gladstone, allowing 12 hits and fanning three.
Kingsford will host the District 10 Minors (ages 8-10) tournament starting Saturday, July 12, in Quinnesec. Little League All-Star teams from Kingsford, Iron Mountain, Norway, Escanaba, Gladstone, Tri-County (Trenary), and Iron County will battle for a berth in the state tournament in Tecumseh.
