CHANNING – Project Appleseed is offering a Rifle Marksmanship and American Heritage Clinic at the Sagola Township Sportsmen’s Club on Oct. 4-5.

Project Appleseed is the sole activity of The Revolutionary War Veterans Association, an all-volunteer non-profit organization. The association is dedicated to teaching America’s shared heritage and history as well as traditional rifle marksmanship skills.

“Find out how marksmanship saved the day on April 19, 1775,” a spokesman said.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the clinic starts at 9 a.m. and will continue until 4:30 p.m. both days.

Participants are taught fundamental rifle marksmanship skills that allow a rifleman to be accurate out to 500 yards. Much of the instruction at a Project Appleseed event is conducted on the firing line at 25 meters, using reduced size targets to simulate distances of 100 to 400 yards.

Students will learn safe gun handling, fundamental rifle marksmanship skills and the history of April 19, 1775, the day that the flame of the American Revolutionary War was lit.

This is a family friendly event. Marksmanship clinic fees are $60 for adults 18 and over and $20 for youths under 18. Military, law enforcement officers, elected officials, re-enactors in period dress and physically challenged are free.

There will be loaner .22s available and a limited amount of bulk .22 ammo available for students in need at instructor cost of $34 for 500 rounds.
