Conover to host Blizzard Blast on Feb. 16

CONOVER, Wis. — The sixth annual Northwoods Blizzard Blast is planned for Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Conover Community Park near U.S. 45 in Vilas County.

Featuring activities for winter enthusiasts of all ages, the event is geared to participants and spectators alike. Children will enjoy the dog sled dash, chilly Charlie’s carnival, face painting and pony rides.

Giant ski races, recliner races, ice bowling and slap shot hockey are just a few of the events for those of all ages.

The baseball diamond will host the popular snowshoe baseball games.

Demonstration and instruction in snowshoeing and archery as well as horse-drawn sleigh rides will take place throughout the day.

The artisan bazaar will feature handcrafted items, jewelry and accessories while tasty cheeses, dips, candy and more will be available for purchase.

Proceeds go to area firefighting and emergency medical departments.
