Marinette team captures Badwater Bass Tourney title

IM man lands largest fish at Spread Eagle event

FLORENCE, Wis. — “Flippin’ Fools” from Marinette, Wis., was the winning team at Saturday’s Badwater Bass Tourney on the Twin Falls Flowage in Spread Eagle, Wis.

Alan Baxter and Tony Marcusen registered six bass weighing a total of 14.95 pounds. They received a cash prize of $1,688.

The largest single bass, a largemouth weighing 3.75 pounds, was caught by Kent Hultstrand from Iron Mountain and netted by nephew Jacob Smith from Florence. They received a Hummingbird Helix 5 fish finder donated by event sponsor Nine Lakes Sport & Marine and a sweatshirt donated by Whisler Outdoors Sport & Bait.

The top seven teams received cash prizes totaling $3,563. Teams placing eighth through 10th received prizes donated by Maxsells Restaurant & Suites, El Capitan Supper Club, Tavern on Central, Saloon No. 2, Northern Lites and Wild Rivers.

Event organizers and volunteers included Pat Smith, Katie Renschen, Tommy Podnar, Lisa Smith, Kyle Smith, Lori Moore and Wendy Gehlhoff. Next year’s tourney will be Saturday, July 11.

— 7. Eric Van Iten, Reid Curtis, 10.4 pounds, Green Bay.

— 8. Tom Homan, Zach Wallace, 9.8 pounds, Cecil, Wis.

— 9. Rodney DeClark, John Trulock, 9.75 pounds, Kingsford.

— 10. Aaron Prescott, Jeff Pestka, 8.95 pounds, Menominee.
