Trap shooters earn prizes at Long Lake club’s picnic

LONG LAKE, Wis. — The Big 4 Plus Sportsman’s Club had its annual membership picnic in July under beautiful skies at the clubhouse in Long Lake, as 90 people turned out to enjoy a day of trap shooting and other activities.

The 50-Bird Lewis Shoot had 50 entries and paid out five classes, with each class winning $70.

The winners and their scores were: Curt Riege, Watertown, Wis., 50; Ed Borske, Alvin, Wis., 47; Rea Dorzok, New Holstein, Wis., 45; LeRoy Dorzok, Tipler, Wis., 44; Douglas O’Hagan, Marquette, 40.

A consolation shoot also took place. The winner was Ben Niehaus, of Florence, Wis., collecting $50.

Lewis class shooters could play options as well, which paid $48 each. Bill Kramer of Lena, Wis., won 25 straight on trap 1 and Sam Kalata of Argonne, Wis., won 25 straight on trap 2. Curt Reige of Watertown, Wis., was High Gun, and Rea Dorzok of New Holstein, Wis., won the Ladies High Gun category. Numerous steak, bacon and ribs competitions were offered, too, resulting in spirited shoot offs.

“The Big 4 Plus Sportsman’s Club extends their thanks to all who helped make this year’s picnic a success,” said JoAnne Smith, treasurer. “A special thanks goes to the volunteer workers and also the businesses who donated prizes and help to sell raffle tickets.”
