Second measles case in Marquette County, third in U.P. reported

MARQUETTE — A second case of measles has been reported in Marquette County, making it the third overall in the Upper Peninsula, according to the Marquette County Health Department.

The infected person was at these Marquette locations where potentially others were infected, the health department stated:

— First Bank, 1502 W. Washington St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time Tuesday and Wednesday, 8 a.m.to 2 p.m.Thursday and 5 to 9 p.m. Friday.

In addition, this person also was in Delta County on Thursday, from noon to 5 p.m. Eastern time at First Bank, 1921 Third Ave. N. in Escanaba.

Because the measles virus can remain infectious up to two hours in the air after an infected person departs, people who went into those locations during the times cited should contact their local health department and monitor themselves for symptoms for 21 days.
