IRON MOUNTAIN -- Upcoming events at the Dickinson County library branches include:
Thursday
Upcycle used books with Bookcycle: Artsy Apples at 6:30 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain. This series of craft recycling programs will challenge you to salvage old books by using their covers and pages to create literary decorations. This month, they'll make some apple decorations. Books and craft materials will be available. Call the Dickinson County Library at 906-774-1218 to register for this program.
Friday
Experience fantastic entertainment at Anime Club during the Nordic Lunch Bunch, 11:15 to 11:30 a.m. at the North Dickinson Branch in Felch. Young adults in grades 6 and up will meet to watch anime episodes, suggest anime and manga for the library collection and more.
Saturday
Participate in the Outdoor Extravaganza with the Dickinson County Library from 10 a.m. to noon at Cowboy Lake Park in Iron Mountain. The Dickinson County Library booth will offer a fun craft for kids as well as information about library services and resources.
Monday
Participate in Banned Books Week at the Dickinson County Library and Branches through Sept. 30. Banned Books Week highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship. Displays will spotlight books that survived actual or attempted banning at libraries and schools across the United States. Anyone can celebrate the freedom to read and join the efforts of librarians, teachers, booksellers, and members of our communities to retain open access to all materials by checking out these books.
Tuesday, Sept. 26
The Page by Page Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain. The Page by Page book selection for October will be chosen at the September meeting: attend the program to cast your vote. The selection will be advertised on our website, www.dcl-lib.org/pbpbookclub, where you can also find reading guides and past selections. New members are always welcome.
