DE PERE, Wis. -- "Etty," a one-woman play based on the diaries and letters of Etty Hillesum, adapted and performed by Susan Stein and directed by Austin Pendleton, will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dudley Birder Hall, 400 Grant St. at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis.
The play is free and open to the public, with a discussion to follow.
Esther "Etty" Hillesum was the Dutch author of confessional letters and diaries that describe both her religious awakening and the persecutions of Jewish people in Amsterdam during the German occupation. In 1943, she was deported and killed in Auschwitz concentration camp.
