Catherine Menghini hired as Holy Spirit Catholic School principal

NORWAY — Catherine Menghini has been appointed principal at Holy Spirit Catholic School in Norway, officials announced.
Menghini comes to Holy Spirit with nearly 30 years of teaching experience. She is a graduate of Northern Michigan University and is State of Michigan Professional Education certified. She has spent the majority of her teaching career serving as a Catholic educator including holding positions at St. Theresa Catholic School in Sault St. Marie, Ontario, Canada, St. Sebastian Catholic School in Bessemer and most recently at Bishop Baraga Catholic School in Iron Mountain.
She has experience in the various levels of elementary education having taught in positions ranging from pre-K through eighth grade with specific specializations in English and mathematics. She has also been a member of the Diocesan School Accreditation Team and has served as a leader of Catholic Identity during her time with Bishop Baraga.
Menghini resides in Vulcan with her husband, Joe, where they attend St. Barbara Catholic Church. They have two grown daughters, Hayley and Marissa. Both of their daughters are Catholic School graduates. In addition, Menghini comes from a large Catholic family of seven. Her family moved to the area from Ohio, when she was in high school and her youngest sister is a graduate of Holy Spirit School.
She has expressed that taking on this new role “feels like a homecoming to me.”
“As principal of Holy Spirit Catholic School, I look forward to using my leadership skills, interpersonal relationships with staff, families and volunteers, and organizational skills to lead the school to new heights,” she added.
Holy Spirit School was founded in 1966 and is located at 201 Saginaw St., Norway. For 50 years, the school has provided a faith-based education for both Catholic and non-Catholic families in Dickinson, Menominee and Marinette counties for students Pre-K-eighth grade.
