Body found in dumpster on IM’s south side

IRON MOUNTAIN — Authorities are investigating a body discovered this morning in a dumpster behind the Goodwill Industries store but say foul play is not suspected in the death.

The body was found about 8:55 a.m. behind the building at 1858 S. Stephenson Ave., in the retail strip mall off U.S. 2 on the city’s south side, according to the Iron Mountain Police Department news release.

No name or other details about the person were released, as officers are working to notify next of kin.

Iron Mountain police were assisted by Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, the Kingsford Public Safety Department and the Michigan State Police.
