NORWAY -- A Norway home is considered a total loss after an electrical fire Saturday, authorities said.

Flames were erupting from both the first and second stories of the home at 313 Iron St. when the Norway Volunteer Fire Department arrived about 4:30 a.m., Fire Chief Dave Bal said.

About 15 firefighters were able to bring the fire under control by 9:30 a.m., Bal said

No one was injured in the blaze; the homeowner was at work when the fire began from an electrical short in a closet under the main floor stairwell, Bal said.

Firefighters were called back later Saturday afternoon and again Sunday to extinguish rekindled hot spots.

The fire department was assisted by the Norway Police Department, North Alert Ambulance Services, DTE Energy and the Norway Electric Department.
