Boys Basketball: Jets use fast start to beat Trojans

2 min read

CRYSTAL FALLS -- The North Central Jets continued their pattern of quick starts here Friday night as they overwhelmed Forest Park 64-40 in a Skyline Central Conference matchup.

The Jets had three players produce 58 points, topped by Jason Whitens with 23. Dawson Bilski had 21 and Marcus Krachinski added 14. The Jets (13-0, 9-0 SCC) hit 26 of 69 field goals and led 17-6 after one period. Whitens and Bilski each had double-doubles, with Whitens grabbing 12 rebounds and Bilski 10. Krachinski had seven boards and four steals.

"The first quarter we ran the ball in transition well," said North Central coach Adam Mercier. "We never play well up here. We didn't shoot particularly well tonight, but we played hard and brought a lot of energy to the game. It was consistent throughout."

Dan Nocerini had 16 points and six rebounds for the Trojans (5-8, 2-6 SCC), who hit 15 of 46 field goals.

"I thought our kids handled themselves well against a very well-disciplined North Central team," said Forest Park coach Chris Nocerini.

The Jets resume action Tuesday, hosting Menominee. The Maroons fell to North Central 70-59 shortly before Christmas, the only time North Central has been challenged this season. "The kids are focused. They are ready for that game," said Mercier.
