Track and field: Norway boys win Bobcat Invite
Three Lakes-Phelps wins girls title, Nordics 2nd

FLORENCE, Wis. -- Norway turned back Garrett O'Neil and North Dickinson to win the Bobcat Invitational boys track and field meet Monday at Landry Field.
The Knights tallied 141 points for their seventh "Bobcat" title while O'Neil's four firsts led the runner-up Nordics with 130 points.
"This was a total team effort," said Norway coach Al Trudeau. "We didn't take a ton of first places but we did take a ton of second through sixth-places.
"I told the kids every point counts and it showed tonight. Just by putting kids into an event we can pick up points. They might not like running that event but some that just ran it we picked up points most times."
Norway won the 100 (11.39) and 200-meter (24.08) dashes with sophomore Mitchell DeGrave, 400 with Connor Ortman (55.70) and high jump with Josh Boulden (5-5).
Knights sophomore Ethan Micoley anchored the winning 400 relay (49.46) with Legrave, Isaac Hautamaki and Boulden.
Junior Inocenio had seconds in the 110 and 300 hurdles.
"The kids really hustled and pushed hard tonight," Trudeau said. "I am so happy for the team."
Nordics' O'Neil won the 110 (17.30) and 300 hurdles (43.60), long jump (18-4.5) and triple jump (38-5.75). The senior missed breaking the meet's 300 hurdles record from 1984 by less than a second.
The third-place Northwoods Storm had firsts in 3200 relay, 1600 run (5:20.96) from Devin Dumke and 800 (2:11.45) from Caleb Jones.
Three Lakes-Phelps captured the girls title over North Dickinson, registering a 161-145 advantage.
Bluejays' Daisy Campbell erased the meet pole vault record, clearing 10-feet-4 to better 9-6 from 2005. Three Lakes also added firsts from freshman Kortnie Volk in 800 (2:48.20) and triple jump (30-0.75).
North Dickinson swept the four relays and added an individual first from freshman Masyn Alexa in the 200 (28.46). Alexa also ran legs in the winning 800 and 1600 relays.
Norway nipped Forest Park 54-53 for third place. The Knights had firsts from Jordan Kraemer in 300 hurdles (54.30) and long jump (14-9).
Forest Park's Jenna Grabowski took the 100 hurdles (18.45) and Taylor Clark won the 1600 (6:11.63).
The fifth-place Storm, or Niagara-Florence co-op, collected firsts from Ki'eircidy Hannah in discus (86) and shot (29-9).
The Bobcat Invitational first began in 1983. Norway won five straight boys titles from 2001 to 2005. Thee Lakes girls captured their first "Bobcat" title since 2002.
Weather had cancelled the past four Bobcat Invitationals at Florence. Niagara Invitational takes place Thursday at Ropele Field.
