FLORENCE, Wis. — Florence Middle School wrestler Caitlyn Kelley returned from Iowa with a USA State Wrestling championship.

Competing Sunday in the 88-pound Middle School Girls Division at Cedar Rapids, Kelley pinned her first opponent and majored the second 11-0 to reach the finals.

“There she had to face a four-time Iowa state champion and national champion,” noted her parents, Eddie and D’Nelle Kelley.

After going scoreless for the first two periods, Kelley was able to score two points with a reversal with 20 seconds left and hold on for the win.

She also represents Upper Level Wrestling out of Escanaba.
