NORWAY -- A late second-quarter surge sent Kingsford past Norway 54-38 in non-conference girls basketball Tuesday.

The shorthanded Knights (2-11), now down to six players, battled to a 12-11 lead after the first quarter. The Flivvers (7-4) held a 15-14 edge with five minutes left in the second quarter and pulled ahead for a 30-21 halftime lead.

Kingsford put the game out of reach with a 15-3 third quarter.

"We had a nice second and third quarter on offense to really to open the game up," Harry said. "Our defense played well again tonight. We forced Norway into some turnovers which resulted in scoring opportunities."

Olivia Olkkonen came off the bench to hit four three-pointers and led the Flivvers with 14 points.

"Olivia came in and provided a nice spark with her shooting," Harry said. "She got a hot hand with those three-pointers."

Brooke Kriegl added 11 points and four of the Flivvers' 13 steals. Ali Doolittle had eight points.

Kingsford, which missed eight free throws in Monday's one-point loss to top-ranked West Iron County, converted 14 of 18 against Norway.

"Extremely happy with our free throws tonight," Harry said of the team's season-best effort from the charity stripe. "I was happy we were able to bounce back from a tough loss. This was a great team win for us."

The Clifford sisters, Haley and Mackenzie, each scored 13 points to lead the Knights. Freshman Kassi Gyselinck chipped in 10.

In Thursday's games, Kingsford travels to Forest Park and Norway hosts North Central.

Christy Glodowski's 10 points led Kingsford past Norway 35-28 in the junior varsity game. Kali Stanchina scored 11 points and Averie Popp had 10 for the Knights.
