NORWAY -- The 12th annual Don Hill Memorial Scholarship Basketball Tournament tips off Saturday at Norway High School.
The tournament involves Gold, Silver and Bronze men's divisions along with a women's.
Championship games will be played Sunday.
Tournament director Matt McCarthy said players with professional, collegiate and top high school backgrounds will participate.
In the premier men's Gold Division, Norway Dewey’s Brownberry Bread features Kyle Johnson and Jake Thomann of Iron Mountain; Justin Groeneveld of Kingsford; and Garrett O’Neil and Mark Roell of North Dickinson.
Iron Mountain Bimbo's Wine Press sports Carney's Jared Benson and Menominee's Jason Boucher, who both played professionally in Europe. Jake Polfus, Joey Pontbriand, Justin Bloniarz and Jake Brock are some of the other standouts.
Tanner Uren, with Michigan Tech ties, leads Negaunee Window Outfitters of the U.P. Marquette's Larry Burnette III, tourney MVP from three years ago, is also on the roster with Superior Central's Dylan Johnson (Finlandia) and Jordan Chartier (Michigan Tech).
Former Forest Park star Bryan LaChapelle Jr. and North Central's Bryce Bilski pace Crystal Falls McNeil's Oilers. Other former Forest Park Trojans are Erik Peterson and Brad Anderson.
Stephenson Wilson Farms has several players from UW-Marinette.
North Dickinson's Nick Mattson, Travis Steinbrecher and Lane Lindeman are part of Rapid River Poma Masonry.
Rosters for two other teams will be made up mostly of former UP high school players and 2019 seniors that are no longer playing in the MHSAA tournament.
