FLORENCE, Wis. -- Gibraltar's balanced attack ousted Florence 70-41 in a WIAA Division 5 boys basketball regional semifinal Friday.
The Vikings (12-11) had six players score more than eight points.
"We held with them for the longest of time," said Florence coach Bryan Bomberg, noting Gibraltar had a late first-half run for a 34-23 lead. "In the second half we scored a bucket or two and they took over."
Junior Riley Hixon led the Bobcats (16-6) with 20 points. Senior Evan Beaster had nine points and 10 rebounds. Kaden Schuls contributed eight points and four assists. Toby Wheeler had three assists.
"Gibraltar has great shooters with an inside and outside game," Bomberg said. "They were a bigger, better and faster basketball team than we were tonight."
Bomberg saluted his seniors for an "awesome year," citing Beaster's rebound effort led to a single-season school record.
"We'll come back next year ready to roll," Bomberg said.
