New COVID-19 cases in Marinette, Menominee counties

Marinette County has three new COVID-19 positives in Wisconsin, while in the Upper Peninsula Menominee County has a new case and Chippewa County two new cases, according to data sites in both states.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ data site Sunday showed Keweenaw County with one confirmed virus case; Alger County with two confirmed cases and one probable; Luce County three confirmed cases; Baraga and Schoolcraft counties four confirmed cases; Chippewa County with four confirmed cases and one probable; Iron County five confirmed cases and one death; Dickinson County six confirmed cases, one probable and two deaths; Gogebic County seven confirmed cases and a death; Mackinac County eight confirmed cases; Houghton County 11 confirmed cases; Menominee County 15 confirmed cases and one probable; Delta County 18 confirmed cases, three probable and three deaths; and Marquette County 64 confirmed cases and 11 deaths.

The MDHHS also earlier separately had prison inmates as positive in Luce and Chippewa counties.

Using state figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Sunday had 154 confirmed positives and 18 deaths. Ontonagon remains the only county in the Upper Peninsula and in Michigan not to have at least one positive coronavirus test.

The MDHHS reported 252 confirmed new COVID-19 cases statewide Sunday for a total of 63,261 to date. The state had four new deaths for 5,911 to date.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department on Saturday listed six cases for Dickinson County, with two deaths, three recoveries and one active case; and five cases in Iron County, with four active and one death.

Dickinson County Healthcare System on Saturday showed three cases from Dickinson County and eight cases from other counties; those counties are not identified. DCHS has tested 1,122 people for COVID-19, with 11 positive, 1,102 negative and nine results still pending. DCHS noted there are several additional sources of testing in Dickinson County.

For the Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Sunday listed Marinette County with 53 cases and three deaths; Forest County 38 cases and three deaths; Vilas County 10 cases; Florence County three cases; and Iron County five cases and a death. As with Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports.

Wisconsin on Sunday had 457 new cases to reach 27,743. The state, however, had no new deaths to stay at 777, according to the DHS data site.
