Hauswirth releases EP supporting soldiers

HOUGHTON — Jeff Hauswirth is back with a new EP showcasing his time spent writing songs while at the Soldier Songs and Voices Reveille Retreat held annually at the TR Ranch in Hallettsville, Texas.

The EP, titled “Ranch Sessions, Volume I,” debuted Oct. 9. Prepare to feel both joy and pain as the songs tell just part of the story of a man who spent more than 20 years as a hospital corpsman in the United States Navy and Naval Reserves. He reminisces the bravery of youth in “Fearless” and remembers the pain of losing a loved one in “A Letter to Mom.” His truthful lyrics connect with a multitude of listeners.

Five days spent songwriting at the TR Ranch produced all of the songs heard on this album.

“I never would have figured to have that much in me in such a short time as for writing, but the Ranch felt like a magical place,” Hauswirth said. This setting provided him with the opportunity to work with a group of amazing professionals. “They helped me really take a look inside, like really deep, to see what was there.”

The cover of “Ranch Sessions Volume 1” pays homage to the TR Ranch and as the title suggests, there is hope for more albums to come. “It’s Volume 1 because we don’t know what the future holds. With any luck, there will be more volumes as the years go by.”

Hauswirth will donate at least 50% of the album proceeds to the Soldier Songs and Voices mission. He supports their efforts to continue to provide instruments and songwriting lessons to veterans.
