Golden K to give kids refurbished fishing poles

I received a call from Dr. Paul Jacobs regarding a fishing pole project Golden K started months ago with the idea that upon completion fishing poles would be handed out free to children this summer.

Earlier this year, several people donated fishing poles they no longer used. Duane Barnard and Jacobs volunteered to collect these poles and refurbished them. The fishing poles are ready.

Any child age 8 to 12 years old can have a pole, first-come, first-served. Please make an appointment to pick up your pole by calling Duane Barnard at 906-776-1470. He lives on 811 W. B St., Iron Mountain and will be working from home to hand out poles. Please have an adult accompany the child picking up the fishing pole.

What a great way to build “fish stories.” The lakes, ponds, creeks and rivers await. Allow the great outdoors of the Upper Peninsula to delight you and your child. The Golden K is a service organization that embraces the idea of fishing together.

Golden K members anxiously await the opportunity to meet again. Until then stay safe, enjoy each day.
