Golden K packs Valentine’s bags
Golden K members met Monday to pack Valentine’s Day bags for special needs kids. The volunteers made up 90 bags that included candy, chocolates, oranges, apples and valentine cards. The special gifts were delivered to Woodland Elementary in Kingsford; Florence, Wis.; Crystal Falls; Niagara, Wis.; Iron Mountain; Norway; and Iron County schools. Golden K member Bill Roberts coordinated the buying and delivering. Due to COVID-19, the group decided this was the best way to celebrate Valentine’s Day for the special kids this year. Members who helped with the gifts are, from left, Sharon Scholke, Jeanine Polkinghorn, Diane Aune, Dorleen Uhazie, Sue Proudfit, Kathy Jo Anderson, Joe Santiago and Orice Walters. The Monday meeting will feature public relations manager Joe Rizzo of Marshfield Clinic Health System – Dickinson, who will speak about the new Marshfield clinic in Iron Mountain. The Golden K meeting will start at 10 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Kingsford. All are welcome.
