MARQUETTE – Travel Marquette, in partnership with Fresh Coast Light Lab, has announced a new artistic laser projection, “Beads of Light,” that will debut Thanksgiving weekend as part of the fifth-annual Holiday Lasers on the Ore Dock in Marquette.

“We’re thrilled to see this year’s Holiday Lasers feature such meaningful local artistry,” said Susan Estler, CEO of Travel Marquette. “Beads of Light is a beautiful addition to the series, one that celebrates the creativity and culture that make Marquette so special.”

Produced by Fresh Coast Light Lab founder David Kronberg and designed by indigenous artist Aiyana Aldred, “Beads of Light” will animate traditional Anishinaabe beadwork patterns across Marquette’s historic Ore Dock.

The immersive new show celebrates Native artistry and storytelling through light, honoring the region’s deep Indigenous roots and connecting to broader Anishinaabe arts, authors, and storytelling initiatives taking place throughout the community.

The lower harbor show will premiere from 6 to 9 p.m. Eastern time Thursday, Nov. 27, to Saturday, Nov. 29, aligning with the start of the Holiday Lasers on the Ore Dock season, running to Dec. 27 and New Year’s Eve.

“We have the privilege of working with very talented creative artists in the north,” said David Kronberg, founder of Fresh Coast Light Lab. “Interpreting original artwork as laser shows is quite technical and projecting the new work onto the iconic Lower Harbor Ore Dock is an outstanding public art event. At 1,200 feet by 100 feet, Marquette’s laser show is reportedly the largest architectural laser show in North America.”

With a continued focus on accessibility and inclusion, the sensory-friendly laser experience ensures all residents and visitors — including children, veterans and individuals with sensory sensitivities — can share in the holiday spirit together on Marquette’s Lower Harbor waterfront.
