IRON MOUNTAIN — Treat yourself and your sweetheart to Lynn’s Local Live Valentine’s Day concert, featuring Counter and Lawson, at The Braumart in Iron Mountain.
The acoustic duo of Jim Counter and Winston Lawson will perform a variety of music from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, for their first appearance at the historic theatre.
The duo, which formed a year ago, have a combined total of 100 years of live performance experience.
“You can be sure of a great show with the areas most seasoned players,” said Jinx Brew, The Braumart executive director.
Counter is a successful local singer/songwriter who spent years in
Nashville perfecting his craft and is actively pitching originals to his
Music City contacts for national artist considerations.
Counter has worked closely with singers such as Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, Sawyer Brown and Dan Seals. He is known in Nashville as the “Melody Guy,” as well as a highly respected session singer.
Lawson has been a guitar player since his start locally in the early ’70s. He took his guitar to Seattle to play with the West Coast boys and found success with the early grunge movement.
He has recently performed with regional bands Under the Gun and Little Vito and the Torpedoes.
The audience will enjoy select songs from the past that have a breath of new life and that feature a rare musicianship that only years of road work can supply, Brew noted.
They will also perform 10 new Jim Counter songs that will be on his next album release.
Tickets are $15 and are available online at www.thebraumart.org. Tickets are also available at the door while supplies last.
There will be special Valentine’s Day door prizes and treats.
“This is another top-quality, can’t-miss show,” she added.
