Benefit planned Sunday for Katie Gibbons at Big 10

Local entertainment

Norton & Chartier will perform for the benefit for Katie Gibbons on Sunday.

IRON MOUNTAIN — A cancer benefit for Katie (Ellis) Gibbons is planned from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Big 10 Sports Bar & Grill in Quinnesec.

Performing acoustic music throughout the afternoon are local groups Norton & Chartier, Money Shot and 141 North. In addition, the event will have food, raffles and 50-50s.

At age 38, Gibbons was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 leiomyosarcoma. “In an instant, life changed,” organizers posted on Facebook. “What lies ahead is a difficult and uncertain road — one that no family should have to face alone. They ask for the community to come together — to show up, support, and to surround Andy and Katie with the same love they’ve always given to others.

“As a nurse, she has dedicated her life to caring for others — offering comfort, strength, and compassion when people need it most. Alongside her husband, they’ve given to the community without ever asking for anything in return.

“She is known for her positive attitude and bright, beautiful smile — the kind that lifts others up even on their hardest days.”
