IRON MOUNTAIN -- Grammy-nominated songwriter and performer David Lee of Nashville will appear for one night only Saturday, Aug. 22, at The Braumart in downtown Iron Mountain.
Doors at the theater, 106 E. B St., will open at 6 p.m., with the concert from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
A Wichita Falls, Texas, native and third-generation musician, Lee cut his teeth playing a mix of blues and country in Texas honkytonks before chasing his dream to Nashville. There he became one of country music's most successful songwriters, penning a remarkable string of hits -- including No. 1 singles "19 Somethin'" for Mark Wills, "Letters From Home" for John Michael Montgomery and "Lucky Man," performed by Montgomery Gentry. His love song "I Need You," recorded by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, earned Lee a Song of the Year Grammy nomination in 2008.
His songs have been recorded by Texas country star Cody Johnson, Terri Clark, LeAnn Womack, Wade Bowen and Randy Rogers -- whose cut of "Rodeo Clown" reached No. 1 on the Texas charts and was named Texas Song of the Year in 2021.
Now performing as an independent artist, Lee brings a full range of sound that moves from blues to swing to traditional country and everything in between. In 2025, he was inducted into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Beyond his own music, Lee is a champion of the songwriting community. He mentors emerging independent artists -- including his daughter, Jessee Lee -- and in 2024 founded the Texas Songwriters Relief Fund, which supports touring songwriters facing unforeseen hardships on the road. It's a fitting mission for an artist who has spent his career honoring the craft and the people who keep music alive.
This is a rare chance to see a true Nashville hit maker and storyteller up close, in the intimate setting of a historic theatre.
Advance tickets are $35, or $45 at the door. For more information, go to The Braumart website at www.thebraumart.org.
