KINGSFORD -- Joan Jouppi led the group through Monday's Golden K program. She and her husband, Ron, have been with the group since its infancy.
A presentation was read by Lois Outcelt remembering the contributions of founding member Dr. Donald Jacobs.
As always, the group warmed up with a bit of singing, followed by a few minutes of socializing over coffee and doughnuts.
Guest speaker was Margo Recla-Juedes, who has many titles and qualifications that establish her as a therapeutic pain specialist in the community. She is the owner and creator of The Real Heal therapy center in the old WE Energies building at 1401 S. Carpenter Ave. in Iron Mountain.
Personal and family experience inspired her to create a unique space focusing on total health through individual healing. There are two staff therapists, along with two assistants, who work together as a team to provide clients with full range conditioning. If your doctor prescribes therapy, The Real Heal does its best to get that covered by insurance.
In additional to excellent physical therapy, The Real Heal building offers mental health counselor, a community art gallery, a conference room and an exercise studio.
The Exercise Studio features weekly yoga, including chair yoga, as well as taekwondo, pilates and zumba. Having all of these modalities in one space creates a complete well-being package.
Sound Healing is a personal favorite and highly recommended experience that is offered at 10:30 a.m. second Saturday each month. Sound Healing is orchestrated by a talented local musician named Bryan Drewyor, also known as the One Human Band. She said it will take you on a beautiful journey of deep inner healing.
Found in the heart of the center is a space called The Lounge, dedicated to helping the body recover naturally through holistic, alternative treatment options. They feature various areas and healing modalities you might not expect to find in the local area, such as Red Light Therapy including the Joovv Red Light Panel. They have an infrared sauna, which is unique and very different from the traditional steam sauna. There are two massage therapists on staff and a special amethyst heated mat, which enhances relaxation and healing. The lounge also boasts a Himalayan salt room that helps reduce inflammation and soothe repertory issues.

Golden K will have an organizational meeting Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford. All members are urged to attend, as the club will discuss important restructuring issues.
