IRON MOUNTAIN -- The Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority will celebrate its 12th-annual Oktoberfest from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at the downtown stage parking lot at the intersection of Iron Mountain and Hughitt streets.
The fall event features live music, German-themed food and drinks, along with competitions, children's activities, and games.
Entertainment gets underway at noon with Norton & Chartier. The local act will appear as a trio featuring a special guest and will play a variety of classic rock music.
Dorf Kapelle, a 25-piece polka band from the Appleton, Wis., area, will take over entertaining the crowd about 2:45 p.m.
The local Govern band will close out the evening, taking the stake from 6:30 to 9 p.m. They will perform a variety of hits from the 1990s and 2000s.
The Mr. and Ms. Oktoberfest competition runs from about 2 to 2:45 p.m.
The popular stein-holding competition will follow the second band's performance, about 5:45 to 6:30 p.m.
Guests can also enjoy hammerschlagen, a traditional German game, along with other tradition yard games including corn hole and Jenga.
This year's food and beverage vendors are Millie's Market, Harmony Hearth Bakery, Dublin's Patty Wagon and Billie's.
They will have nine beers on tap, including four Oktoberfest selections, along with wine and other canned options available.
Kids can enjoy an afternoon of fun with inflatables, including an obstacle course, toddler playland, giant slide and bounce house, plus face painting by D's Creative Faces.
Admission is $10 at the gate, with cash and card accepted. Children 12 and younger get in free.
Oktoberfest sponsors are Tourism Association of the Dickinson County Area, Northern Interstate Bank, Danielson Insurance and First National Bank & Trust.
