‘That ’70s Music’ show Saturday in Crystal Falls

“That ‘70s Music,” created by Crystal Falls native Mark Oliverius and featuring Mia Brown and the Nashville Hitmen, will be performed Saturday at the Crystal Theatre in Crystal Falls.

CRYSTAL FALLS — The Crystal Theatre will kick off the summer of 2023 by celebrating the sounds of the 1970s.

Big Timber Entertainment presents Mia Brown and the Nashville Hitmen with Crystal Falls natives Mark Oliverius and Paul Sundquist playing “That ’70s Music” at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The audience can expect to hear iconic songs of the ’60s and ’70s from Linda Ronstadt, Neil Diamond, Dianne Warwick and Paul Simon to The Doobie Brothers, ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith, Journey, The Spinners and Jackson Brown.

Born and raised in Wausau, Wis., featured singer Brown began singing when she learned to talk and started playing the piano at age 4. As a teenager, she began playing guitar and writing music.

Brown has been working with musical director/producer Oliverius on her debut project for about two years; it will be released later this year. She recently signed with Big Timber Entertainment, co-founded by Oliverius.

Considered a multi-genre artist, Brown mixes today’s Midwest pop, ’70s FM rock, jazz and country to create her own unique sound.

“When I first started working with Mia I was blown away by the velvet smooth texture and the agility of her voice,” Oliverius said. “She handled her lead and background vocals effortlessly with speed, precision, soul and power. Big Timber Entertainment is excited to sign her and we look forward to igniting her career.”

Oliverius is well-respected and known throughout the music and entertainment industry for his extensive background. He was Lorrie Morgan’s keyboard player for 18 years and her music director for more than 12 years. During that time, he co-wrote 13 songs on Morgan’s “I Walk Alone” album and co-produced it with her.

Oliverius has also worked and toured the world alongside other major international recording artists such as Pam Tillis, Mickey Gilley, Joe Diffie, Sawyer Brown, Sammy Kershaw, T.G. Sheppard and Trick Pony.

Advanced tickets for “That ’70s Music” may be purchased online at thecrystaltheatre.org by phone at 906-875-3208, or in person from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday at Stage Left, next to the theatre.
