MARINETTE -- Farah Siraj, who represents the country of Jordan with her unique style of Arabic flamenco jazz, will be featured in a free community-wide concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Theatre on the Bay at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's Marinette campus.
Concert doors open at 5 p.m. and seats are reserved for those with tickets. People can pick up tickets at any office of The Stephenson National Bank & Trust, Main Street Antique Mall, and Theatre on the Bay.
According to her biography, Siraj has been named Jordan's Musical Ambassadress. She is a virtuoso who has toured all over the world and performed on some of the most prestigious platforms, spreading the message of peace through her music.
Her aesthetic fuses influence from Arabic music, flamenco, jazz, bossa and pop. Siraj approaches music as a medium for peace and a way to amplify the voices of people around the world who need to be heard.
A program of Arts Midwest, World Fest connects Midwestern communities to international musicians to foster an understanding and appreciation of the global uniqueness and differences. The concert is free, but space is limited; therefore, tickets are required for entrance.
During her visit in February, Siraj will provide workshops for students from surrounding schools, featuring her distinctive musical style that blends music from around the world with percussion and stunning vocal arrangements.
