The spring 2015 dean’s list for the 2014-15 academic year for Western Michigan University has been released.
To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average (on a scale of 4.0 being all A’s) in at least 12 hours of graded class work.

Mitchell McNutt of Iron Mountain graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. and earned a bachelor of science in mathematics and a bachelor of arts in economics (dual degrees).
Erik Weihenmayer, world renowned blind adventurer, author, and filmmaker was the principal speaker for the Class of 2015. “What if adversity weren’t the enemy, but the pathway, the pathway to change?” asked Weihenmayer in his speech. “The light within you is stronger than the barriers in your way…Commit to nurturing that light.”
President Alison Byerly conferred degrees upon the graduates and delivered farewell remarks.
Honorary degree recipients included Erik Weihenmayer, sculptor Karl Stirner and Miles Young, president of Friends of Hermione-Lafayette in America.
McNutt was also named to the 2015 spring semester Dean’s List at Lafayette College for outstanding academic achievement.
To qualify for Dean’s List, a student must achieve at least a 3.60 semester grade point average on a scale of 4.0. McNutt is a graduate of Xavier High School.

Derek Saxon of Iron Mountain, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ripon College on May 17, with major in chemistry.
