SPREAD EAGLE, Wis. — Dan Recla of Niagara, Wis. will exhibit his unique metal art at the Spread Eagle Art Show on July 16.

The event will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Chuckwagon, U.S. 2 and Carpenter Road in Spread Eagle, Wis. The public is invited to meet the artists and artisans and enjoy a juried showcase of original arts and fine crafts.

Recla has worked in metal for most of his life and began making “cool” things from smashed car fenders and doors, giving them away to his friends. His father-in-law looked at it and called Folk Metal Art. That began a brand new adventure as he began creating interesting and unusual metal sculptures.

New artists and old favorites will be exhibiting a variety of art forms including acrylic, watercolor, tole, mixed media, and whimsical paintings.

Art works include metal art; wood carvings; intarsia wood; wire-wrapped gemstone jewelry; hand-woven rugs, placemats and purses; and miniature birch bark canoes.

Attendees can also check out lathe-turned wood bowls; soy candles; stained glass; Lake Superior beach glass jewelry; unique steampunk, gothic, and Victorian bags; embellished flatware: rocks, fossils, and minerals; Lake Superior agate jewelry; bird feeders; aerial photos of Spread Eagle; wooden toys; metal can flowers; dips, salsa, and dipping sauces; plus much more.

“While you are visiting the Art Show, you can enjoy burgers, hot dogs, and corn-on-the cob cooked on the outdoor grill or eat inside the cool, comfortable Chuckwagon,” said Char Simons, event coordinator. “Also serving ice cream treats and cold beverages.”

The event will take place rain or shine.

“This is always fun for the whole family,” she said.Pictured are some of the metal art designed by Dan Recla of Niagara, Wis.
