Marquette Choral Society concert this weekend

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Choral Society, directed and conducted by Erin Colwitz, will present the free concert “Laudate Dominum: Cantatas at the Cathedral” at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette.

Several traditional hymns are included for audience participation. There are no cost for tickets but a free-will offering will be accepted.

The 100-plus voices of the Marquette Choral Society, plus orchestra and the Diocesan Children’s Choir, prepared by Samuel Holmberg, will present Arthur Honegger’s “Une Cantate de No. l” and Benjamin Britten’s “St. Nicolas Cantata.”

Tenor soloist for the Britten “St. Nicolas Cantata” will be Brian White, based in Ann Arbor. Baritone soloist for the Honegger “Une Cantate de No. l” will be Wayne Hanmer, a frequently heard soloist with the Marquette Choral society.
