U.P. Legion Posts Association lists events
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Upper Peninsula Association of American Legion Posts has announced its upcoming events.
The 11th District spring meeting is set for Saturday, April 28, at Post 244 in Powers. There will be a lunch at noon with the meeting including nominations and elections of District officers to begin at 1 p.m.
The 12th District spring meeting will take place Saturday, April 28, at the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 in Iron Mountain. There will be a noon lunch with meeting and nominations and elections of District officers at 1 p.m.
The annual U.P. Association Legislative Dinner is set for Saturday, April 28 at the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 in Iron Mountain. Cocktails will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.
The UPAALP would like to impress upon the U.P. legislators the importance of veteran issues.
Every Post should be represented with at least one or two members. The dinner is open to the Sons of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Seven legislative members will be in attendance including Representative Jack Bergman; Michigan 38th State Senate District Tom Casperson; 108th District Rep. Beau LaFave; 109th District Rep. Sara Cambseny; 110th District Rep. Scott Dianda; Jay Gage, aid for Senator Debbie Stabenow, and Caitlyn Stephenson, aid for Senator Gary Peters.
The emcee for the event will be Ray Moore, national executive committee man for the American Legion in Michigan.

The UPAA Auxiliary spring meeting is planned Saturday, May 5 at Post 50. There will be a noon lunch and meeting to follow at 1 p.m.
The U.P. Association of American Legion Posts 2018 summer convention is planned June 8-9 at Post 50 in Iron Mountain. The host will be sending out schedules and hotel information to all Posts.
The 2018 Department Boys State Program to Lansing and Grand Valley is also approaching. The bus will again be driven by John Mella and chaperoned by Diana Mella.
