Ford Addition parade planned Sunday
KINGSFORD — The Ford Addition neighborhood Sunday will carry on a tradition that began more than a half-century ago when a parade was arranged so a little boy who had a winter birthday could celebrate in summer.
The late Dr. Boyce and his family six months later arranged a neighborhood parade with their son and a couple friends.
Now 58 years later, the neighborhood still hosts a party to mark the birth of the United States.
All ages are encouraged to participate by decorating bikes, wagons, scooters and more to parade through the neighborhood. Participants will meet at the Ford Addition Park in 600 block of Hamilton Avenue in Kingsford. The parade steps off at 6:45 p.m.
Kingsford High School band members will share their musical talents during the event. Kingsford Public Safety will lead the parade.
From Ford Park, kids will parade down Hamilton Avenue to North Boulevard to Cass Avenue and back to the park.
Children then can enjoy snacks at the park after the parade.
