Stambaugh class celebrates 70th reunion

The Stambaugh Hilltoppers Class of 1948 celebrated its 70th reunion Sept. 6 at Zippidy’s in Iron River. The evening began with a Youtube rendition of the class hymn, “My God and I Go in the Field Together,” followed by singing the “Hilltopper Fight Song.” They then had a moment of silence for 52 deceased class members. An evening of shared memories of a school that no longer exists, and happy camaraderie ensued. Hugs, goodbyes and “see you at the 75th,” concluded the celebration. Members, from left, are: seated, Stella Stasaski Stutsman, Delores Viitala Cimarelli and Lila Leppanen Pelouch; standing, Walter Osterlund, Julio Bonel, Wilma Kruzich Hilberg, Robert LaVaque and Nina Gorman Rigodanzo.
