FLORENCE, Wis. — Florence County’s University of Wisconsin-Extension’s Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program will host its first gathering from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the Florence Elementary School Library.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and other non-parental caregivers who are raising grandchildren or children of any age are invited to attend, along with all the children in your care.

There will be supervision for the children while the grandparents attend a short presentation and a support group meeting. Snacks and refreshments will also be provided.

Participating in the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program offers many opportunities:

— A chance to connect with other grandparents with the same needs, interests, and concerns;

— A safe environment that is non-judgmental and supportive;

— Discussion about meeting the needs of raising grandchildren;

— Information about issues and resources affecting grandparents who raise grandchildren;

— A forum to make new friends, both for grandparents and grandchildren;

— A chance to have fun,
