SPALDING — North Central Area Schools had their annual National Honor Society induction ceremony Sunday at St. John Neumann Parish Hall in Spalding.

New inductees include seniors Griffin Johnson and Tayler Poupore, juniors Leo Gorzinski and Jasmine Walters, and early admission sophomores Ava Eichhorn, Jaiden Fleetwood, Autumn Gundrum and Chloe Webber.

In order to be selected as a member of the North Central Chapter of NHS, students need to portray the four pillars of NHS: Character, scholarship, leadership and service. Juniors and seniors need to maintain a 3.3 GPA, while early admission sophomores require a 3.5 GPA.

All students who are eligible solely based on GPA are given an application packet. After the packets are turned in, a faculty council of five teachers meets to vote on students for membership and schedule interviews for candidates as well.

Twenty-two students applied for the honor, with eight chosen for membership this year.

Starting at $2.99/week.
