Taking time to reflect and breathe this holiday season
IRON MOUNTAIN — Christmas has many meanings to many different people. For me, Christmas means family. This year, there were 28 of us at my grandma’s, which believe it or not is not as high as our normal number. Even though we were missing the few that typically make it more than 30, two of my cousins were expecting, so it was almost like we had more than 28.
For Christmas, we all open presents together, give grandma and grandpa their gifts, cook up a big brunch and an even bigger dinner, play games, reminisce and just enjoy each other’s company.
To me, and most of my family, Christmas is magic. Because of this magic, everyday life seems to slip away just for a minute. I still opened up Mully and Mo’s on Christmas Eve and Dec. 26, but for Christmas Eve night and Christmas Day, I gave myself a much-needed breather.
My wish for you this holiday season is that you are able to find your breather, and revel in the love and magic of this time. I know I did. I wish you all the merriest of days and the grandest of New Year’s, and pray that you have the strength to live life to the fullest, no matter what it throws your way.
Next week we will have a full article, but for this week, I’m living family, and taking a few stolen moments to myself. I thank you for your continued support and never-ending words of love that you have shown me. You are a wonderful audience and I am blessed to speak my truth in the only way I know how. Happy New Year, and the merriest of Christmases. With love, Samm with two m’s.
