Plant sale set for Glacial Gardeners

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Glacial Gardeners Master Gardener Volunteer Association will have its 20th annual Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Florence County Fairgrounds on County Highway N, 1/3-mile south of U.S. 2.

Plants of many kinds will be available and will include annuals grown from seed by Master Gardener volunteers, perennials from their gardens, herbs, vegetables, ground covers, shrubs, house-plants and native plants. Among the offerings will be irises, daylilies, hostas, hardy monardas, bleeding hearts, lilies and many others. A garage sale corner also will be set up with used garden equipment and other useful items.

Money from the sale helps provide scholarships to area students who plan to major in horticulture, agriculture, botany, forestry or the environmental sciences. Funding also goes to area schools for gardening-related projects and equipment, plants and volunteer work for the Community Garden in Florence and the Community Gazebo Garden.

Glacial Gardeners meet at 1 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month in the lower level of the Wild Rivers Resource Center in Florence. New members are welcome.
