In lieu of a unity candle, the couple and their parents unified as a family by pouring colored sand into an hourglass.

In closing of the ceremony, the father of the bride shared a blessing for the newlyweds and asked for all attendees to make their own private blessing. Together, they returned the shells back to the ocean, along with their blessings for the couple.

The reception followed the ceremony at the Port Maria beachfront restaurant at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall. The dinner prayer was given by David Neuman, uncle of the groom. The Italian toast was given by Kevin Romitti, cousin of the mother of the bride.
