APPLETON, WIS. — Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Florence Lantinen celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with the entire family at a dinner in their honor on June 11 in Appleton, Wis.

Florence Elizabeth Ann Godfrey and Thomas W. Lantinen were united in marriage by the Rev. Vernon Blackwell at the United Methodist Church in Iron River, on June 11, 1949.

The attendants were Tom’s brother, Arnold Lantinen and Florence’s sister, Lillian Woolard. They celebrated their first year anniversary in a special way by welcoming their first daughter, Vivian, who would be followed by four more daughters.

They took over the family farm in Homestead and owned and operated it together for almost 50 years. When they retired and made their final milk shipment in February 1989, they continued to keep heifers and subsequently began milking again for several years.
