Cemetery tour planned Saturday in Crystal Falls

Gloria Frederickson shows off some of the historic items that will be on display during the cemetery tour Saturday in Crystal Falls.

CRYSTAL FALLS — Bill Leonoff will be the featured presentor for a tour at 9 a.m. Saturday of Section 2 Catholic at the Evergreen Cemetery in Crystal Falls.

The causes of deaths — by accidents, illness or murder — and other adventures will be told, said Gloria Frederickson of the Crystal Falls Museum Society. The cemetery has more than 600 people to chose from, she added.

In case of rain, another date will be given. A $5 donation is requested.

Featured will be the ceremonial sword owned by Jerome Schwartz, William Russell’s book of receipts of business dealings in the early 1900s, and Amasa Bino Weber’s collection of Amasa pins and badges.

Maps of east Iron County railroads and mines will be sold for $10.

“Please wear comfortable shoes and come enjoy the history, families and sights of some of our early pioneers, business people, miners, and well known people who have died 1885 to present,” Frederickson said.
