Bay Film fundraiser offers movie outdoors

BARK RIVER — Miss movies at the drive-in?

On Thursday, Bay College’s Bay Film Series will host an outdoor showing of the cult classic “Moonrise Kingdom” at the Northern Sun Winery, 983 10th Road in Bark River.

“Popcorn and soda are part of the ticket price. All proceeds will go to support the Bay College Food Pantry,” film series coordinator Nanci Love said.

Northern Sun Winery will co-host the event. The ticket price includes two wine samples for those 21 and older; wine also can be purchased during the show.

The Bay Food Pantry operates in conjunction with Feeding America, a nonprofit network of food banks across the country.

Jill Martin, director of TRIO and the pantry, said students brought the issue to the college’s attention. The pantry is sponsored by Aldi and private donations.

The winery doors will open at 8 p.m. Eastern time, with the movie at 8:30.

Tickets are $10 and $5 for students with ID and can be purchased both at the Bay College ticket window and the tasting room at Northern Sun, as well as at the door the night of the show.
