Daughters of Isabella to meet Thursday

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Daughter of Isabella Circle 367 will have lunch at noon Thursday at Holiday Kitchen, with Mary Graver as guest, followed by the regular meeting at the Immaculate Conception Faith Formation Center for the installation of officers.

Graver, past state regent from lower Michigan, originally had planned to attend the September meeting.

Regent Barbara Bedard welcomed the members of the Daughter of Isabella Circle 367 to the Sept. 5 meeting at the Immaculate Conception Faith Formation Center.

With the death of the group’s chancellor, Louise Plante, on Aug. 31, the regent led the opening prayer and singing of the ode.

The auditors, Marlene Johnson and Lu Villa, approved a Mass to be said for Plante in June at St. Mary and St. Joseph.

Correspondence was received from International Regent Susan Suchy, thanking the officers for their continued support and cooperation in keeping the Iron Mountain circle active and workable. The internation officers are meeting to discuss the laws and rules in the bylaws. All circles were requested to submit proposed amendments for any changes to the bylaws by Jan. 15.

Delores Hamby made a motion, seconded by Dorothy Schinderle, presenting the slate of officers for the new year starting Nov. 1. The rosary was said for Plante. The “Hail Mary” prayer for September will be for the Hurricane Dorian disaster.

“Happy birthday” was sung for Marlene Johnson and Betty Simon, who were present, and acknowledged for Sylvia Paquin.

Dessert and coffee were served and bingo followed. Hostess was Marcene Fuse.
